Grand Opening of Khao Soi by Chariya, Alton, Hampshire

I was absolutely delighted to attend the Grand Opening of the Khao Soi by Chariya restaurant in Alton, Hampshire, UK on 12 April 2024. The invitation came from friend, restaurant owner and 2023 MasterChef Winner, Chariya Khattiyot. The event was a reunion of MasterChef contestants, including Chris Chrisalys, Jane Devonshire, Terri Fearon, Omar Foster, Forest Kwok, Woei Lee, and Jack Wilkinson.

Guests of Honour were MasterChef judge, Gregg Wallace, and the Mayor of Alton, Annette Eyre. It was a fabulous evening with incredible food! If you are in Hampshire, or can get there, I highly recommend you eat at Chariya's resturant. Do book first though, as it is going to be very busy! The menu included: starters of a savory mini bao bun filled with BBQ Korean chicken; a refreshing pomelo and prawn salad served in a delicate tuile cup; and a unique pad Thai takoyaki. The main was a sublime “Khao soi” noodle curry featuring handcrafted noodles crowned with succulent grilled chicken. The broth was out of this world. The desserts were Thai tea tiramisu or yuzu mascapone cheesecake. I had both! Absolutely delicious.
